Esther M. McDonald

Esther Marie McDonald, 93, resident of Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA and formerly of Marienville, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Born September 21, 1925 in Marienville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie (Hepinger) Cussins.  She graduated from Marienville High School in 1943.  Esther married Peter J. McDonald on June 14, 1947; he preceded her in death in 2006.

Esther was employed at Knox Glass Container Corp. in Marienville until she married.  After her marriage, she became a full-time housewife and mother to their five children.  

Surviving are her five children, Sharon M. (Gary) Norr of Meadville, Debra J. (Don) Brosius of Sigel, Pamela K. (Deryl) Larsen of Sharpsville, William D. (Donna) McDonald of Lubbock, TX, and Kelly S. Zofcin, and friend Phil, of Warren; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  Esther is also survived by a sister, Leora Silvis. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by seven siblings; Gerald, Nathan, Ruth, Alice, Lenora, Doris and June .

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who cared for Esther during her stay at Jefferson Manor, as well as the Clarion Forest VNA for their care.

Friends may call at the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry St., Marienville, PA on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 4-7 PM. 

Friends will also be received on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the funeral home from 10-11 AM. A funeral service will directly follow at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Deryl K. Larsen, son-in-law, officiating. 

Interment will follow in the North Forest Cemetery, Marienville.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the charity of one's choice.
