Harold R. Coleman Jr. age 92, of Summerville, PA , passed away on Wednesday July 4, 2018 at his home in Summerville.
Harold was born on January 29, 1926 in Summerville. He was the son of the late Harold Rexford Coleman Sr. and Mary (Miller) Coleman. He married Nancy Evelyn Brosius on November 1, 1948 in Winchester, VA, she survives in Summerville.
Harold was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army in Germany. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He also served as a guard at the Newrenberg Trials.
Harold was employed as a Supervisor/Foreman for PA Dept. of Transportation, (PENNDOT), where he retired. Harold was a former member of the Masonic Lodge of Brookville, PA.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, and gardening. He was a certified Ham Radio operator. He was also known as a "Jack of all trades". Harold was a member of the Summerville UM Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda "Jill" Ames of Sarver, PA, and two grandchildren; Blake Ames of Brookville, and Abe Ames of Chula Vista, CA.
Along with his parents Harold is preceded in death by a brother, Bill, and two sisters, Marjorie Coleman, and Lillian Coleman.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 9 - 11 AM at the Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad Street, Summerville, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11 AM with Rev. William Saxman officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson County, PA.
