Harry Harris Watt, 95 years old, of Stahlman Rd., Rose Twp. (Corsica), was born in Johnstown, PA, August 13, 1923, and died September 27, 2018, in his home.
Harry Watt was married 65 years to Ann Lytle. They wed on September 1, 1950 in the United Presbyterian Church, West Allis, Wisconsin.
Surviving is his sister Dorothy Greet and husband David; brothers, Russell and wife Beverly Powell and John and wife Karen Powell; and his children: Barbara and husband Russell Smith, Joan Watt, Mary and husband Mitchel Yeadon and Susan Crooks; and seven grandchildren, Chad Yeadon and wife Kristin, Natalee Smith, Martin Crooks and wife Ashley, Sheena Smith and husband Dan Wathan, Logan Tell, Adam Crooks and Brianna Tell; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother, Jack Brandon Watt, Rev. Raymond, and Judith Powell; foster parents; and brothers and sister, Charles, Everett, Laurel, Wilbert, Elva, Lamoyne and Dale Powell.
Harry served as a Sargent in the Quarter Master, European Campaign, WWII and afterwards earned an Agricultural Engineering degree, Penn. State College. He was employed by Allis Chalmers. He earned a science degree and taught at Sykesville, Reynoldsville and DuBois High Schools. In 1966, Harry was recipient of the National Foundation Grant in Physics and Chemistry, earning a Master’s degree at the University of Wyoming. In 1984, he was Educator of the Year at DuBois High School. He retired from teaching in 1985.
He served 25 years as a founding member of the Praise Time Ministries, which included jail ministry and placement of a CTV television tower on his farm. He taught Sunday school at the Presbyterian Church and numerous Bible studies in his home and at Jefferson Manor and Brookside Nursing Home. He was a member of Brookville First Assembly of God. He enjoyed 55 years of farming on Deer Spring Farm south of Brookville. Also enjoyed studying the Bible, reading, fly-fishing, bird watching, working on tractors, welding, traveling and reminiscing with family and friends.
There will be visitation on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad Street, Summerville, PA. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 10-11 AM at the Roseville Independent Chapel, 3598 Rt. 322, Brookville. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor John Thomas officiating.
Interment will follow at St. John's "Windy Hill" Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson County.
