Howard A. Jones, 96, of Brookville, formerly of Summerville, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
Born January 2, 1923 in Corsica, PA, he was the son of the late Norman and Ella (Aikins) Jones. He was a 1943 graduate of Corsica Union High School. Howard was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Army 148th combat engineers until his discharge on November 30, 1945. He was employed at Hanley Brick Company (now Glen Gery) for 41 years until retirement in 1987.
He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Horne and husband Darwin of Penn Hills, Viola Kabay and husband Vince of Brackenridge, PA, Cindy Isenberg of Brookville, Judy Schulze of Brookville; two half sisters, Ella Mae, and Berniece; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a step-son, Wilbur Rankin Jr.; an infant son; two brothers, Bill and John; a granddaughter Wendy Charrie; and a great granddaughter, Mariah Pierce.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM and Saturday January 12, 2019 from 1 to 2 PM at the Furlong Funeral Home, corner of Broad St. and First Ave. in Summerville. A funeral service will directly follow the visitation at 2 PM at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica Borough., Jefferson County.
