John "Jack" Sheofsky Obituary

John "Jack" Sheofsky, 80, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Punxsutawney.  

Born April 29, 1938 in Punxsutawney, he was the son of the late John and Julia Sheofsky.

Mr. Sheofsky graduated from Punxsutawney High School.  He went on to graduate from Penn State University with a degree in engineering.  He was a member of the United States Army Reserves.

On January 23, 1971, he married the former Maryanne Johnston in Punxsutawney; she survives and lives in Punxsutawney.

Mr.  Sheofsky was the CEO of Norcross Industries Inc. in Atlanta, GA until his retirement in 2007.  

He was a member of the SS. Cosmas and Damian Church in Punxsutawney.  He was an avid sport fan and he liked to golf.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheofsky was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara and Romaine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11 AM at SS. Cosmas and Damian Church, 616 W. Mahoning St., Punxsutawney, PA, with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.  Interment will follow at the SS. Peter and Paul Greek Catholic Cemetery on Old Cemetery Road in Young Twp., Jefferson County.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Willow Run Sanctuary, 381 East Branch Rd., Brookville, PA 15825

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, corner of Broad Street and First Ave., Summerville, PA.
