Judith A. Minick, 74, of Summerville, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 in the Emergency Room at Penn Highlands of Brookville.
She was born on May 23, 1944 in Brookville to the late Clyde A. Sr. and Margaret E. (Cohlhepp) Ransel.
Mrs. Minick was a 1963 graduate of Brookville High School. On October 30, 1971, she married Kenneth Clair Minick at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville; he survives.
She worked in the custodial department at Clear Creek State Park and the maintenance/custodial department at the Jefferson County Courthouse. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brookville. Her hobbies included cross stitching, reading magazines, baking cookies, and canning. She was an animal and nature lover, and liked visiting with friends. She enjoyed going for walks and taking car rides so that she could look at the scenery. She loved to laugh and took great pleasure in working with the children at her church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Minick is survived by her four children, Michael M. Minick, Bradley L. Minick, Kenneth J. Minick, and Rebecca L. Minick, all of Summerville and her brother, Thomas L. Ransel and his wife, Darlene, of Brookville.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents, are two brothers, Clyde A. and William F. Ransel.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6-9 PM at the Furlong Funeral Home, corner of Broad Street and First Avenue, Summerville, PA.
An additional viewing will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 10-11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maplevale Road in Brookville. A funeral service will directly follow at 11 AM at the church with Bishop Bryan Neal officiating.
A graveside committal will follow at the Vandervort Cemetery, Jefferson County.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
