Brenda Sue Shaffer

Brenda S. Shaffer, 71, of New Bethlehem passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, while at UPMC East.

Born in Distant on September 6, 1954, she was the daughter of the late James D. and Florence Neill Cook.

She attended Redbank High School and was of Protestant faith.

Prior to retirement she had been employed by Valley Advantage.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, being outdoors, helping others, and animals.

Her survivors include her son, Heath (Joni) Cook; her daughter, Nicole Renee Shaffer; her grandchildren, Paige (Jacob Frampton) Colwell, Ridge and Stone Cook; her great grandchild, James Frampton; her brothers, Dwayne (Pamela) Cook and Barry (Reto Kressig) Cook; her sister, Peggy (Tim) Bish; as well as her companion, Jeffrey Bell. She is also survived by  numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents, and her grandparents, Archie (Venna) Neill and Samual J. (Annabelle) Cook preceded her in death.

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville was honored to be entrusted with the final arrangement for Ms. Shaffer.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.

Her family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to an animal shelter of one’s choice.
