Christine M. “Chrissie” Szymanski, 51, of St. Marys, died December 10, 2023 while at Penn Highlands Dubois following an illness.
Born March 6, 1972 in Kane, she was the daughter of Harold Parks and Vicky Walker.
She was a 1991 graduate of St. Marys High School and obtained her C.N.A. certification.
On December 28, 1992 in St. Marys, she married Thomas Szymanski. He survives.
She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
Christine loved coloring, working crosswords and doing crafts, she enjoyed listening to music and her favorite artist was Amy Grant, and she volunteered for every Special Olympic event held in her area.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Bradley Ty Szymanski and Christian Szymanski; her brothers, George Lukaschunis, Pat Regec, David Johnson, Shawn Johnson and Robert Johnson; and her sisters, Lara Reynolds, Tammy Tettis, Betsy Johnson, Monica Whitfield, Christine Galbraith, Rose Lukaschunis and Stephanie Cox; and her best friend, Heddy Stanton.
Those preceding her in death are her adopted father, J.M. Hamlin Johnson; her adopted mother, Sarah “Sally” Johnson; her brothers, Mike Lukaschunis and Paul Lukaschunis; and her mother-in-law, Rose Szymanski.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Szymanski.
A memorial service will be planned by her family to be held at Shiloh Evangelical Presbyterian Church at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Christine’s memory to Elk/Cameron County Special Olympics.
