David L. Rhodes

David L. Rhodes, 69, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, May 24, 2025, of natural causes.

Born 0n March 25, 1956, in Dubois, he was the son of the late Velma Rhodes.

He was a high school graduate.

He proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

On July 13, 1996, in Sykesville, he married the former Joan Rolls. She survives. Her children felt that when they married “He was a natural fit in their family.”

Prior to his retirement on October 31, 2009, he worked for U.S.P.S.  He began his 28 years of service in DuBois.

He enjoyed woodworking and flipping houses. He LOVED planes, flying, air shows and flight tracking.

In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his son, Rich (Delinda) Perry; his daughter, Renee (Rick) Doverspike; his grandchildren, Alex, James (Rebecca), Ashley, Richard, Jacob (Samantha), Dillon (Samantha) and Hunter; his greatgrandchildren, Ava, Haley, Thad, Gavin, Willow, Adam and Mila; his brothers, Gary Rhodes and Dan (Brenda) Rhodes; his sister, Aldean Vanture; his brother-in-law, Ben (Anna) Rolls; his sister-in-law, Karen (Blaine) Harvey; his nieces and nephew, Margarita, Mylea and Malik; and great nephew, Karver.

Those preceding him in death in addition to his mother are a grandchild, Ashton.

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Rhodes.

His family suggests memorial contributions be made in his memory to either the Punxsutawney Boro Walking Trail or a Pediatric Cancer Organization of the donor’s choice.
