Dennis London Obituary

Dennis Charles London, 71, of Treasure Lake, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

 

Dennis was born January 29, 1948 in DuBois to Edwin William and Miriam Jean (Wells) London.  Dennis was in the last graduating class of the Reynoldsville - Sykesville School in 1965.

 

Dennis was a career veteran serving in the US Army and obtained the rank of staff sergeant.  He was also a Vietnam veteran.  He was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Air Medal Awards, 4 Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/Num. 2,  Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/Num. 2, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and 2 Overseas Service Bars.

 

After retiring from the army, he worked as a nurse's aide, a long distance truck driver, and a security guard.  He married Sharon Kriner Cheslock on January 28, 2016, she survives in DuBois.  He attended the Treasure Lake Church.  Dennis was a member of the VFW in DuBois and the American Legion in DuBois.

 

Along with his wife, Dennis is survived by two sons, Dennis (Vicky) London of AL, and Joshua (Alisia) London of AL; a daughter, Heather London and companion, Bob Possy, of AL;

two brothers, Edwin (Lana) London of Reynoldsville and Raymond (Lynn) London of Ellicott, NY; a step-brother, Bill (Pat) Briggs of Falls Creek; a sister, Joan (Tim) Sechrist of Houston, TX; a step-sister, Diane (Jim) Zahradnick; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Lilly.

 

Also surviving are three step-sons, Thomas (Brenda) Bennett of DuBois, Kenneth Bennett of Chesapeake, VA, and Sam Bennett of Reynoldsville; ten step-grandchildren, Eric, Nicholas, Jonna, Amber, KayLee, Brenden, Dakota, Emily, Skylar, and Anthony; and five step great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Oliver, Lincoln, Kingsley, and Prudence.

 

Along with his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Williams London.

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11 AM at the Treasure Lake Church, 226 Treasure Lake Road, DuBois, PA with Rev. Richard Whitaker officiating.  The service will include military honors conducted by the DuBois Honor Guard.  The Patriot Riders will be present for the services.  Interment will be in the Reynoldsville Cemetery.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA.
