Dolores M. Chitester, 93, of Brookville died Thursday, June 15, 2023 while residing at Jefferson Manor.
Born April 29, 1930 in Brady, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of the late Lenore and Agnes Peace Stiver.
She was a graduate of Ebensburg Cambria High School and in the past worked as a Telephone Operator for Bell Telephone, as a waitress for Howard Johnsons and for Owens-Illinois.
On January 24, 1951 in West Virginia she married Stanley E. Chitester. They enjoyed over 70 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 18, 2021.
Her pastimes included going to Yard Sales, quilting, reading, carpentry, her cats and talking (she never met a stranger).
Surviving her are her sons, John (Janie) Chitester and James (Bobbi) Chitester; her daughter, Jane (Dave) Duncan; her 13 grandchildren, her 32 great grandchildren as well as her 7 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Watt, Maxine Cameron and Betsy Donahey. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Chitester.
Her family will hold “A Celebration of Life” on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11AM at Meade Chapel in Knoxdale.
Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knoxdale, Jefferson County.
