Donald G. Powers

Donald “G Don” Powers, 80, of Ringgold, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at his home of natural causes.

Born on February 28, 1945 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was the son of the late George Powers and Catherine Finkin Powers Gatrost.

He was a graduate of Missouri Valley High School, Iowa and continued his education by obtaining an LPN licensure.

On August 31, 2021 in Ringgold he married the former Lorrayne Reed. She survives.

Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Travel Nurse for 34 years.

He was a former member of the Eagles, Council Bluffs, Iowa and was of catholic faith.

G. Don enjoyed the Oldies and Old County music, he loved to paint, and as a younger man he could often be found somewhere fishing.

In addition to his wife, Lorranye he is survived by his sons, D. Dean (Sarah) Powers and John W. Reed; his grandchildren, Nicole Kalgren, Lacey Ramsey, Michael McCarthy, Jeff Reed, James Reed and Jacob Reed; his brother, Fred Froutes; his sister, Louise Froutes; as well as numerous great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

Those preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his brother, Jack Powers; and his daughter-in-law, Patty Reed. 

A private service was held for his immediate family at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA.
