Evelyn M. Parrett

Evelyn Parrett, 93, of Sigel, died Monday, July 14, 2025 while at UPMC Northwest following a period of declining health. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Born on January 29, 1932 in Halton PA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Frances Simmerline Rhines.

She was a high school graduate and attended Donahey Methodist Church.

On June 10, 1950 in Ridgway she married Cecil Parrett. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2017.

She was a past matron of Forest County Chapter 482 Order of Eastern Star of Marienville.

After 24 years of service she retired as a seasonal employee for the U.S. Forestry Service at the Marienville and Ridgway Ranger Station.

Mrs. Parrett enjoyed watching the Humming Birds, putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

Her survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Bonnie) Parrett and Randall (Jane) Parrett; her daughter-in-law, Debra Parrett; her 7 grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, R. James Parrett; her daughter, Margelyn Parrett; her brothers, Robert, Stanley and Cloy; and her sister, Mary Kirkwood.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 10-11AM at Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry St., Marienville, PA.

A funeral service will follow at 11AM at the funeral home with Rev. Glenn McQuown, officiating.

Interment will be in Donahey Cemetery, Elk County PA.
