Florencia “Flo” Madison

Florencia “Flo” Madison, 56, of Marienville, passed Wednesday, May 28, 2025 with her children by her side at Allegheny General Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born on August 15, 1968 in Ormoc City, Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Andresa Garciano Colarte.

Flo came to this country at the age of 25 with her 3 year old son, carrying a back pack that held all their belongings. She came to this country to give not just her children a better life but to also improve the lives of those she left behind. She worked and sent money back home to help improve their lives as well.

She was self employed as a caregiver and worked over the years cleaning for others. Recently she helped with caring for her grandchildren.

In her home country she attended the local Catholic Church and more recently she attended His Church in Marienville with her family.

Flo enjoyed spending time her family and grandbabies, visiting via video chat her family in the Philippines, sewing, cooking, watching movies and could always be heard singing, often self composed songs.

Those surviving are her son, Kenneth Colarte; her daughter, Flora Jean (Dylan) Smith; her grandchildren, Madelyn Colarte, River Smith, Milah Smith and Ava Kirkwood; her 2 brothers; her 7 sisters; her former husband, Miles Madison; as well numerous extended family members.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 6 of her siblings.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 6-8PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry St., he Marienville, PA. with an additional hour on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at from 10-11AM.

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home with the Pastors Ben Maxwell and Andrew Tygert,   officiating.

Her children suggest memorial contribution be made to them in her memory so that they may continue to support the Chapel in Flo’s hometown in the Philippines to help the people she cared so much about.
