George Catarouche Obituary

George E. “Pumpkin” Catarouche, 85, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday morning, November 4, 2021 at his home following a period of declining health.

Born in Punxsutawney on November 27, 1935, he was the son of the late George Catarouche and Fannie Behrendt Jurcenko.

He attended Punxsutawney High School and was of protestant faith.

He proudly served his county with the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on October 13, 1961.

On April 15, 1988 in Anita he married the former Mary L. Whitfield. She survives.

Until his retirement in 1997 he was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #110 and operating Engineer Local #66.

His other memberships included the Walston Club and Hessians Nomad Motorcycle Club.

He enjoyed motorcycles as well as watching NASCAR races and the Pittsburgh Steelers play.

Those surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, are his sons, Roger D. (Stacey) Raybuck, Keith (DeDe) Raybuck, George (Lisa) Catarouche and Michael (Tanya) Hoover; his daughters, Diana Goodlin and Amanda (Justin) Meanor; his sisters, Donna Harbison, Joyce Wood and Dee Buczyna; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2-4PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA., with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home at 4PM.  

Covid-19 recommendations will be observed for all services held for Mr. Catarouche.
