George Ennis Obituary

E. George Ennis, 80, of Summerville, died Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2025 while at McKinley Healthcare following a period of declining health.

Born on November 27, 1944 in West Deer Twp., he was the son of the late William and Bertha Eastihil Ennis.

He attended Hawthorn School.

As a 5th grader, George was hit by a car and was left disabled for the remainder of his life.

George was a member of Summerville Volunteer Fire Company. He also enjoyed playing ball and mowing the lawn.

His survivors include his brother, William Ennis; his sisters, Betty Dinger, Nancy Smail and  Margaret Ennis; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley and Virginia; and his bothers-in-law, Fred Dinger and Elmer Smail.

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Ennis.

All services will be private and held for his family.

Interment will be in Vandervort Cemetery, Clover TWP, Jefferson County.

His family requests memorial donation be made to Betty Dinger, 81 Fred’s Tire Supply Lane, Summerville, PA. 15864 to help defray his final expenses.
