William Robert “Jack” Byerly, 85, of Summerville, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 12, 1939, he was the son of the late Homer and Leone Bish Byerly.
He was a graduate of Brookville High School and a member of Ohl Community Church.
Until he began his working career as a lifelong truck driver, he was active in the Army Reserves.
In 1989 in Ohl, Jack married the LOVE of his life, the former Marti Kerr. They enjoyed 35 years of happy marriage, prior to his passing.
Jack enjoyed the simple things in life, such as talking about trucks and tractors. He loved being outside, you could find him mowing his lawn or on his tractor mowing the fields.
Above all else he loved his family, after his retirement he found great joy in helping his family and friends, visiting his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His face would light up when his great grandchildren came to visit him and Marti. He also cared deeply for his dog, Mitzie, his best friend.
Jack will be greatly missed by all that knew him, but his love and caring will forever be instilled in his family.
Those surviving in addition to his wife, Marti are his son, William R. ‘Jack” (Paula) Byerly, II; his daughter; Roxanne (Joseph) Kemmer; his five grandchildren and two step grandchildren; his 11 great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; and his sister, Connie (Rick) Leadbetter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Gerald Byerly; and his four sisters, Mary McAninch, Katheryn Kunselman, Beverly Conner and Nancy Rote.
In accordance with Jack’s wishes, there will be no services held.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Byerly.
