James A. Brown, 83 of Marienville, died Sunday morning, October 1, 2023 at his home of natural causes.
Born February 1, 1940 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Clarence and Gretchen Casper Brown.
On August 30, 1957 in Winchester, VA., he married the former Mary Louise Elwell. She survives.
After completing a 4 year apprenticeship, he spent his lifetime as skilled and sought after bricklayer. At the time of his retirement he had worked for over 40 years as a Bricklayer Foreman for Harris Masonry Construction in Carnegie, PA.
His memberships included Bricklayers Union, Fryburg Sportsman’s Club, Forest County Vets Club and the Clarion Moose, American Legion and Eagles Clubs.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wintering in Hudson, Florida every year and spending time boating at Chautauqua Lake and KinzuaDam.
Those surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Alan D. Brown; his granddaughter, Abigail (Drew) Dickey; his great granddaughter, Harper Dickey; as well as his brother, Barry (Carol) Brown.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, James A. Brown.
His family has entrusted Furlong funeral Home, 140 Cherry St., Marienville, PA. with the final arrangements for Mr. Brown.
There will be no services held.
Interment will be in Christ Our Redeemer Northside Catholic Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA.
