James Hetrick Obituary

James A. “Jim” Hetrick, 90, of Brookville, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones following a period of declining health on Wednesday afternoon, December 21, 2022.

Born on January 1, 1932 in Brookville, he was the son of the late Albert Hetrick and Lula Himes Hetrick Byerly.

He was a graduate of Conifer School and proudly and honorably served his country with the US Army.

On November 1, 1952 at the Brookville Church of the Nazarene he married the former Donna Johnson. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2021.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brookville.

Jim, Dad, Papa was an unforgettable man of love and faith to his family and to many in the community. To know Jim was to be blessed by his deeds of selflessness, kindness and generosity. He leaves an enormous hole behide in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

As the owner of Byerly Tire for 40 plus years, he was unequalled in his service and fairness to his customers.

He is survived by his sons, Philip Hetrick, Ken (LuAnn) Hetrick, Chet (Dawn) Hetrick and Jerry Hetrick; his daughters, Lyndell (David) Holtz, Tina Smith, Amanda Keith and Kate (Blaine) Campbell; as well as 22 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Those preceding him in death in addition to his parents and wife, are his brother, Donald Hetrick and his sister; Gladys Hetrick.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. An additional visiting hour will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 12noon-1PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Brookville prior to funeral services.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Brookville at 1PM on Friday, December 30, 2022 with Pastor Doug Dyson, presiding.

Graveside services with Military Honors to be rendered by the Brookville Area Honor Guard to follow at Ohl Cemetery, Beaver TWP, Jefferson County.
