John M. Hartzell

John M Hartzell, 87, of Mayport, formerly of Summerville,died peacefully Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Clarion Hospital due to failing health. 

John was born on April 8,1937 to the late Norton and Irene Hartz Hartzell in Summerville PA.

On July 14, 1956 he married the former Donna Mills. She preceded him in death. On August 25, 2023 he married Patti Shick Hartzell. She survives. 

His pastimes include spending time with children, grandchildren and friends, working and playing cards. 

John was the last surviving member of his immediate family: Earl, Reno, Imogene, Ernie (Ernestine), Louis (Lefty), Harold (Bud), Marge,  Claire, and Stanley. 

He is survived by his children Debbie, John and Mary Beth, and Matt. John is also survived by his grandchildren: Emma (Sebastian) Cenich, John III (Megan) Hartzell, Abby Hartzell, Isaac Hartzell, Cody Hartzell and Lauren Hartzell. His great grandchildren Carter, Sophia and future baby Cenich. 

John is also survived by his extended family Gene and Linda Mills, Karin and Dave Hetrick, Ken Shick and Kandi and Colby Conner, their children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Per John’s request, there are no services. To celebrate John’s life, pour yourself a big glass of good chocolate milk and enjoy!

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Hartzell.

Interment will be in Westview Cemetery, Clover TWP, Jefferson County.
