Laird Stevenson

Laird R. Stevenson, 91, of Marienville, died Monday, August 7, 2023 while at UPMC Hamot.

Born in Warren, Ohio on November 6, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Madge Rhodes Stevenson.

He was a 1949 graduate of Greenville High School and he had a varied work history. Begin as a self employed sales rep for Caterpillar, taught at Venango Vo-Tech School and late was a salesman for Hunter and Peterbilt equipment.

In November of 1950 in Kentucky, he married the former Sarah Palmer. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2011.

His memberships included Marienville Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Rotary Club, Lions Club, and preformed in both the Barber Shop Quartet and the Minstrel Show.

Working puzzles, playing cards and dominos with friends and mowing grass were his favorite pastimes. For many years he helped maintain North Forest Cemetery prior to retiring last year.

Those surviving are his sons, Terry (Mary) Stevenson, Danny (Micky) Stevenson and Rusty (Jocelyn) Stevenson; his sister, Sandy Doty; his 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and long time companion, Agnes Kubisick.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Stevenson; his infant daughter, April Stevenson; and his grandsons, Terry II and Ryan Stevenson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11AM at the Marienville Presbyterian Church with his son’s presiding.

Interment will be at North Forest Cemetery, Jenks Township, Forest County.

His family suggests memorial donations be made in Mr. Stevenson’s memory to the Marienville Presbyterian Church, Chestnut Street, Marienville, PA. 16239.
