Lamont Bearfield

Lamont Bearfield, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, family member, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest on August 8, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, ingenuity, and countless memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Lamont was born on March 16, 1943, in New Jersey to the late Bertha L. Hopkins and Joseph Bearfield. He spent most of his life in Newark, New Jersey, where he became known not only for his unique personality and sense of humor, but also for his remarkable ability to fix, create, and bring technology to life.

Lamont was especially gifted when it came to electronics and technology. He had a natural ability to figure out how things worked and, more importantly, how to make them work when others could not. He was often known by the name “DC Sat,” a name that became associated with his knowledge, creativity, and ability to meet the electronic and technological needs of those around him.

Beyond his talents and skills, Lamont will be remembered for his humor and witty personality. He had a way of making people laugh with his quick comments, stories, and unmistakable sense of humor. His presence could brighten a room, and many will remember the joy and laughter he brought into their lives. Lamont had a personality that could not be duplicated, and his jokes and memorable comments will continue to be shared and remembered by those who loved him.

Lamont was a devoted husband to Shauna Paige, with whom he shared his life and many cherished memories.

Lamont Bearfield, Sr. was the proud father of Douglas Gilliam, Lamonica Bearfield-Davis, Rebertha (Nissan) Bearfield, Samantha Bearfield, Lamont Angel Bearfield, Latisha Jackson (Bearfield), and Lamont Bearfield, Jr.  He was also the father of the late Charles Gilliam, Pierson Gilliam, Harold Gilliam, Vincent Gilliam, and Elsworth Gilliam. He was also a loving stepfather to Shaquannah, Calvin and god-father to Quincy, who will forever carry the memories and lessons they shared with him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Samuel Bearfield (Shirley) and Alex Bearfield (Cheryl), and was preceded in death by his sisters, Helena Baxter and Casandra Pullins.

Lamont also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Though he is no longer with us in body, the impact Lamont made on the lives of others will continue to live on. His laughter, his wit, his creativity, his willingness to help, and his one-of-a-kind personality will never be forgotten. Those who knew Lamont will carry his memory in their hearts and continue to tell the stories that made him so special.

May his memory be eternal, and may he rest peacefully knowing that he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
