Laurie A. Laursen

Laurie A. Laursen, 49, of Brookville, died the afternoon of Friday, April 22, 2022 at her home following an extended battle with Neuro Lyme Disease in the arms of her beloved husband.

Born on August 21, 1972 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lorraine Montanaro Neilson.

She was a graduate of William Floyd High School and SUNY Farmingdale with a degree in Animal Science.

On September 13, 2002 she married John L. Laursen. He survives.

She was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War (1861-1865) and founding member of North American Shiloh Shepherd Alliance. She was also share owner of the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup winning racehorse “Authentic”, who was named 2020 Eclipse Horse of the Year.

Those surviving in addition to her husband, John, are her son, John M. Laursen and wife Casey, her daughter, Andrea Knapp and husband Andrew; her sister, Kathleen Mendus, as well as her grandchildren, Braelyn Knapp and Nora Laursen.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Dawn Neilson.

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Laursen.

The family will announce a memorial service in the near future.

Her family suggests memorial donations be made in her memory to the ALS Foundation of Western PA.
