Mary E. McFarland

Mary E. McFarland, 85, of Punxsutawney passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026 while at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born on March 18, 1941 at Adrian Hospital in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Thelma Penn.

She was a 1960 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

On June 8, 1963 in Punxsutawney she married Kenneth P. McFarland, II, he survives.

Prior to her retirement in 2020 she worked for her family business, Ken McFarland Selective Cars, as a Notary Public.

She was a member of the Groundhog Festival Committee and was of Presbyterian faith.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Kenneth P. (Valerie) McFarland, III, of Punxsutawney.

A memorial service is being planned at the First Church of God in Punxsutawney at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to an animal shelter/Humane Society of one’s choice.
