Nancy Young, 87, of Brookville, formerly of Ridgway, died Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at McKinley Health Center following a period of declining health.
Born September 1, 1934 in Dysart, Fife, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late John and Rachel Hutchison Tottenham.
She was a high school graduate and was a member of the Ridgway United Methodist Church.
In 1954 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland she married George W. Young. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2006.
While in Scotland she worked as a manager for Marks & Spencer Department Store, after coming to the US she worked as a CNA at Elk County Hospital and later retired from the IU9 as a Teacher’s Aide.
Her calling in life was being a “Caregiver” to children and the elderly.
Those surviving are her sons, Craig (Julie) Young and Douglas Young; her former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Young; her grandchildren, Sophia, Kirsten and Carly Shea Young; and her sister, Jennifer Campbell.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Edward Tottenham and Margaret Penman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 12:30PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. with Pastor Diane Hetrick, officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
