Randall Harriger Obituary

Randall J. “Rooster” Harriger, 69, of Summerville died at his family homestead on February 17, 2024 after a struggle with kidney, heart failure and liver disease.

Born in Brookville on October 3, 1954, he was the son of the late John and Sarah Himes Harriger.

He was a graduate of Brookville High School and was a member of Laurel Lake Seventh Day Adventist Church.

On May 19, 1979 in Ringgold he married the former Mona Deemer. She survives.

Prior to retirement he worked in the lumber industry as a high lift operator.

His pastimes included gardening and being outdoors (even if he was just mowing or sitting on the porch), baking, hunting and growing giant pumpkins. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Giant Pumpkin Growers Associations and although he never grew a world record winner, he grew some very large pumpkins.

He was a loving father and husband, loved helping people whenever he could and would give the shirt off his back if he thought they needed it. He was sure to keep his friends stocked up with his famous pies.

Everywhere he went he spread laughter and joy. Even in his last few months while hospitalized, he made the nursing staff smile and brighten their days. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him and by his loved ones.

In addition to his wife he survived by his son, Kurt (Teighlor Walk) Harriger; his 4 grandchildren, Dakota Burns, Cheyenne, Destiny and Skyler Harriger; as well as Teighlor’s children, Ariyah and Reid Walk.
