Raymond “Remi” Guarnieri, 81, a resident of Snyder Memorial Home in Marienville, died Wednesday morning, January 27, 2021 at Clarion Hospital.
Born on July 31, 1939 at Number Two Mine in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Louis and Flurry Bonanni Guarnieri.
He was a graduate of Grove City High School. He continued his education at Grove City College, NYU, Stanford, London School of Economics and the University of Chicago, obtaining a BA, MBA and completed course work for a PhD.
Research and writings in economics was his passion. He received many awards and honors for his dedication. He was named Who’s Who in the World of Economics, Men of Achievement, Notable Americans, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and International Who’s Who of Intellectuals, to name a few of achievements. He was a Fulbright Scholar as well as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He had many published articles in professional journals.
Mr. Guarnieri shared his knowledge with others as a Professor of Economics at Laval University in Quebec, Canada.
Those surviving him are his two sisters, Judy Roberson and Sylvia (Robert) Gaus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a brother, Robert Guarnieri; and a sister, Onorina Thompson.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions and recommendations there will be no public services held for Mr. Guarnieri.
