Robert “Bob” Leech, 93, of Emerickville, died early Friday, January 8, 2021 at McKinley Health Center.
Born December 22, 1927 in Brookville, he was the son of the late John and Mabel Vallimont Leech.
Due to his enlistment in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Leech was unable to graduate with his classmates; he later graduated with the Brookville High School Class of 1993. He was very proud of this accomplishment.
He proudly served his county by enlisting first in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII and enlisting a second time in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
In Brookville on March 30, 1949 he married the former Althea Brosius. She preceded him in death.
He was employed by Riverside Markets for over 40 year.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Emerickville Methodist Church, as well as a member of both the Brookville American Legion and Veterans Club.
His pastimes were woodworking, traveling and was known to be a “Jokester.”
His survivors include a son, R. Denny (Linda) Leech; a daughter, Connie (Gary) Smith; a sister, Sandra Convery; six grandchildren, Troy Smith, Tracy Park, Crystal Leech, Robert T. Leech, Trent Leech and Terrill Leech; and eleven great grandchildren, Mac, Kaden and Sianna Park, Emma Grace and Gabriel Smith, Vincent, Brei, Tanner, Zoe, Zophia and Ashanti Leech.
Those preceding him in death in addition to his parents and wife are two brothers, Howard and Dick Leech; and three sisters, Mary Cummings, Marsha Leech and Delores Hice.
Family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 1-3pm at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, Pa. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 3pm with Pastor Gary Sheesley, officiating. Military Honor Guard services will be observed. Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines will be maintained.
Interment will be on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in Lakelawn Cemetery, Jefferson County.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Emerickville Methodist Church.
