Sally Smiley Obituary

Sarah Ann “Sally” Smiley, 89, of Brookville died Tuesday, February 18, 2025 while at McKinley Health Center.

Born December 17, 1935, in Summerville, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Lillian Morrison Hughes.

She attended Summerville School and was a member of the Church of Christ in Summerville.

On July 13, 1951, she married Charles Burton Lindenmuth. He preceded her in death. She later married Jim Smiley in January 1981. He preceded her in death as well.

Prior to her retirement in 1993 she worked as a Toll Collector for the Ohio Turnpike Commission.

She enjoyed attending church, visiting friends, reading, watching TV, and traveling. However, her greatest love was for her family. She was an exceptionally wonderful mother and grandmother and will be forever missed by all. 

She is survived by her sons, Terry (Marian) Lindenmuth, Stephen (Janet) Lindenmuth, David (Jennifer) Lindenmuth, and Joel “Scott” Lindenmuth; her daughter, Bonadee (Joseph) Hagstrom; her grandchildren, Joshua Lindenmuth, Tiffany (David) Ewing, Tara Lindenmuth, Kristyn Stage, Shannon (Joseph) Rittenhouse, Valerie (Michael) Sizemore, Adam Lindenmuth, Rebecca Reyes, Matthew (Stacie) McCale, Ashley (Mason) Haynes, and Brittnee (Matthew) Yankush; her great grandchildren, Sadie Lindenmuth, Jonathan Lindenmuth, Jayce Lindenmuth, Charleigh Lindenmuth, Zoe Staley, Nathan Sheffield, Aiden Sheffield, Ethan Lasky, Alyssa (Brandon) Beerhalter, Hayden Snyder, Hannah Rittenhouse, Alaina Rittenhouse, Meghan Rittenhouse, Skylar Sizemore, Sawyer Sizemore, Jude Reyes, Annabella Reyes, Roland Reyes, Zane Haynes, Finn Haynes and Rainer Yankush: her great great grandchildren,  Brooklyn Buzzard, Eden Buzzard, Emma Snyder, and Francis Beerhalter; as well as her sister, Barbara Davis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents and brothers, William and Robert Hughes, preceded her in death. 

Sally’s family would like to thank everyone at McKinley Health Center for the wonderful and loving care she received.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10-11AM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. A memorial service will follow at 11AM at the funeral home with Mike Smith presiding.

A time of fellowship will follow the service at Haugh Hall, 12514 Harrison St., Summerville, PA.
