Sonia M. Whitley, 83, of Brookville, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 22, 2025 while at Punxsutawney Hospital.
Born September 6, 1941 in Laceyville, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Lucy Comstock Bowman.
She was a graduate of Laceyville High School.
On December 16, 1999 in Ellwood City, she married David Whitley, he preceded her in death.
Prior to her retirement in December 1999, she had been employed by Brookville Hospital.
She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her survivors include her sons, Charles (Brenda) Powell, Byron (Kim) Powell, Kevin (Sarah) Powell, Tim (Carly) Powell and Mark (Beth) Powell; her daughter, Jody (Scott) Eldridge; her grandchildren, Nicole Magness, Charles Powell, Jr., Amber Lynch, Eric Powell, Abbie Aladdin, Taylor Barber, Reese Powell, Claire Powell, Nolan Powell and Madeline Powell; her great grandchildren, Hunter Buzard, Haley Magness, Jared Magness, Preston Powell, Charles C. Powell, Lyndric Lynch, Zander Powell, Harper Aladdin and Grace Barber; as well as her sisters, Elsie Wilcox and Donna Fasset.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Ryan Powell and Nora Aladdin; her brothers, Grant Bowman, Jr. and Kenneth Bowman; and her sister, Gail Harvey.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Whitley.
A” Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Windyhill Cemetery, Rose TWP., Jefferson County at a later date.
