Twila A. Gifford

Twila A. Gifford, 90, of Brookville, died in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 19, 2021 at McKinley Health Center following a period of declining health.

Born in Brookville on May 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Violet Cable Swartz.

She was a 1949 graduate of Brookville High School and a member of Emerickville United Methodist Church.

 In 1951 she was married to James J. Gifford in Brookville. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2013.

Prior to her retirement Mrs. Gifford was Tax Collector for Pinecreek TWP for over 30 years, as well as also working at Comet and Golden Dawn in Brookville.

She enjoyed baking and gardening and was known to have a “Green Thumb.”

She is survived by her son, Gordon Gifford.

Those preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband are her brothers, Harold and Gene Swartz; and her sisters, Marian Ishman and Betty Fuller.

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, Pa was entrusted with final arrangements for Mrs. Gifford. All services will be private.

Interment will be in the Church of God Cemetery in Emerickville, Pinecreek TWP., Jefferson County.
