Velma M. McCanna

Velma M. McCanna, 97, of York, PA. formerly of Marienville, passed away at the home of her daughter in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Born January 29,1929 in Mayburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Arwilda Dunkle Cussins.

She was a graduate of Point Marion High School.

On august 12,1958 in Clintwood, VA. she married Charles McCanna. He preceded her in death.

Prior to retirement she had been employed as a packer for Glass Containers.

Her memberships included Greenwood Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary with over 50 years of service, where she served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary and helped the Veterans Club for over 56 years and Forest Cunty Sportsmen’s Club.

She enjoyed playing BINGO.

Her survivors include her son, Gary McCanna; her daughter, Mary (Terry) Stevenson; her daughter-in-law, Clara Cussins; her grandchildren, Tracy, Donna, Betty, Scott, Miranda, Charles and Tammy; her great grandchildren, Robert, Sean, Joe, Trevor, Kyrstin, Eric, Emma, Donna, Justin, Gage and Ariana (Brandon); as well as 3 great great grandchildren and anotherarriving soon.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Cussins; her brother, Henry Cussins; and her sisters, Arwilda LaCaze and Hilda Howell 

Furlong Funeral Home,50 Broad St., Summerville, PA. had the distinct honor of providing the final arrangements for Mrs. McCanna.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2026,from 11AM-2PM at Marienville Methodist Church, 201 N Forest St., Marienville, PA. 

A funeral service will follow at 2PM at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory toLancaster Serenity Hospice for the Serity Surprise Fund.

Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Barnett TWP., Forest County.
