Virginia Carter Obituary

Virginia Marie Carter, 66, of Dubois, died on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Christ the King Manor in Dubois.

Born January 18, 1954 in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Richard H. and Martha L. (Vallimont) Birch.

On July 1, 1997, she married Robert L. Carter in Florida; he preceded her in death.

Virginia was employed in the cleaning business until her retirement in 2007.  She was of the Methodist faith.  She loved to grow flowers, and liked playing the lottery. 

She is survived by her children five children, Elverta Huntington and her husband, Josh, of Punxsutawney, Larry George and his wife, Aundrea, of Dubois, Orville George and his wife, Kelly, of Sykesville, Scott Fleming of Brookville, and Elizabeth Swigeart and her husband, Richard, of Michigan; 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are Virginia's six brothers, Wayne Birch of Brookville, William (Barbie) Birch of Maryland, Fred (Dee) Birch of Reynoldsville, Robert Birch of Summerville, John Birch of Hazen, and Randy (Leslie) Birch of Brookville and her seven sisters, Martha Lou (Dave) Bash of Leechburgh, Carrie Birch of New York, Christine (Tom) Snyder of Corsica, Betty (Richard) Steel of Brookville, Maxine (Ron) Walters of Brookville, Sherry (George) Piovesan of Brookville, and Lisa Smith of Summerville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Denny Birch and one sister, Sarah Jane Reekie. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA.  

Interment will be in the St. John's Windy Hill Cemetery.
